huckleberry is a super cute cafe in santa monica with yummy food and a chill, laid back vibe. i love their breakfasts (especially the granola). they have a really unique selection of bottled sodas and i was happy to see some of my favorites from new zealand in the mix.
when i’m home, the santa monica farmers market is always a must! i usually visit often in the summer but this was my first time going in the winter. i was pleasantly surprised at the wide variety of produce and i actually like it better this time of year because of the many vegetables, especially squash and carrots. it was also less crowded which is always a plus. do you have a local farmers market you frequent?
deetjens and the big sur inn are some of the most beautiful places I have ever been. from the big pine trees to the rustic cottages, its pretty unbeatable. I feel like I’m in a different world when I’m there. Deetjens is a restaurant on the property with the great food and even better ambiance. last time we stayed in big sur, we lodged at the big sur inn and had the most amazing breakfasts like strawberry pancakes and fruit parfiats at deetjens. This visit, we met the woman who decorates and designs for the hotel and restaurant and as you can see, it’s above and beyond beautiful. it really is a slice of heaven
i know i say a lot of things and places are my favorite but of all the places i have ever been, big sur takes the cake. it is beautiful beyond words and this time seemed even more magical than our usual stops. we were just driving through on our way home from carmel but we decided to stop at a few of our favorite places like nepenthe, big sur bakery and the big sur river inn. it started raining and within minutes, the brightest rainbow i’ve ever seen appeared. i tried to capture it but the pictures really don’t do justice. it was a great way to end such a wonderful trip
on our road trip, we saw so many beautiful beaches. it was too cold to go for a swim but they were sure beautiful to look at! the beaches around big sur are by far the most breathtaking i have ever seen with their steep cliffs and majestic rocks. carmel by the sea has a cute little beach that allows dogs to run free which is quite a sight to see. i’m so blessed to live in such a beautiful state.
carmel has the cutest cottages! they remind me of the cottages i saw all over the english countryside when i was there a few summers back. every morning, i walked with my mom and my dog to breakfast at the mission ranch and took pictures along the way of the gorgeous homes and quaint cottages. as you can tell by these pictures, my favorite thing to take pictures of is doors and arbors. my dream house would be a little cottage with a colorful door and an ivy covered arch in carmel. a girl can dream
