i know i said this about melbourne but wellington really is my favorite city i have ever been to! something about it was just lovely! it didn’t really feel like a city but more like a really cool and quaint town. my favorite place i went was cuba street which was full of darling shops, great restaurants and the world’s best hot chocolate. the te papa museum was awesome but not gonna lie, my favorite part of the museum was the super fast internet. because when you don’t have even regular internet, super fast internet becomes all the more important.
on our way to wellington, we stayed at our friend’s grandparents beach house. i was in heaven. it wasn’t the kind of beach i’m used to back home in cali but it was beautiful and peaceful. the house was adorable! it seemed to be frozen in a time long past and there were still vintage books in the book shelves, black and white family photos on the walls and decade old cans in the cupboards. we all talked and played games late into the night then woke up early to make bacon and french toast. it really was a magical stay
our team decided to spend a morning on the mornington peninsula near melbourne exploring the beach and climbing on the rocks. we got a little too ambitious and decided to climb all the way around the peninsula but after a few hours of exhaustion and frustration, we discovered the rocks turn into steep cliffs and we had to turn back. despite the setback, it was still a great time of bonding and adventure
my favorite store i have found so far in new zealand is kikki k! while i was in hamilton, my roommate told me about this darling stationary store she thought i would like! i fell in love with the store and ended up getting a bunch of cute school supplies there! so when i found out there was a kikki k in melbourne, i made sure we visited so i could take a look around and get a new planner! the melbourne store ended up being the first kikki k store which i was super stoked about! now if only they would open a store in America…
