while i love disneyland, i must admit that california adventure is the place to be for great rides. most of my favorite rides, such as soaring over california and mickey’s roller coaster, are all at california adventure. cars land opened about a year ago but i haven’t been around long enough to visit. my mom, who got to visit cars land before it even opened to the public, said i had to go on the radiator springs roller coaster which was the highlight of my trip. it was definitely worth the hour and a half line.
a few weeks back, some friends and i missed the noon service at our church so while we waited for the 5pm service, we took some time to hang out at some of our favorite places in la like silverlake and melrose. it ended up being a pretty epic day full of good laughs, great food, lots of coffee and endless pictures, thanks to casey’s iphone. why is it that impromptu days with no set plans always end up being the most memorable?
huckleberry is a super cute cafe in santa monica with yummy food and a chill, laid back vibe. i love their breakfasts (especially the granola). they have a really unique selection of bottled sodas and i was happy to see some of my favorites from new zealand in the mix.
when i’m home, the santa monica farmers market is always a must! i usually visit often in the summer but this was my first time going in the winter. i was pleasantly surprised at the wide variety of produce and i actually like it better this time of year because of the many vegetables, especially squash and carrots. it was also less crowded which is always a plus. do you have a local farmers market you frequent?
deetjens and the big sur inn are some of the most beautiful places I have ever been. from the big pine trees to the rustic cottages, its pretty unbeatable. I feel like I’m in a different world when I’m there. Deetjens is a restaurant on the property with the great food and even better ambiance. last time we stayed in big sur, we lodged at the big sur inn and had the most amazing breakfasts like strawberry pancakes and fruit parfiats at deetjens. This visit, we met the woman who decorates and designs for the hotel and restaurant and as you can see, it’s above and beyond beautiful. it really is a slice of heaven
