i know i say a lot of things and places are my favorite but of all the places i have ever been, big sur takes the cake. it is beautiful beyond words and this time seemed even more magical than our usual stops. we were just driving through on our way home from carmel but we decided to stop at a few of our favorite places like nepenthe, big sur bakery and the big sur river inn. it started raining and within minutes, the brightest rainbow i’ve ever seen appeared. i tried to capture it but the pictures really don’t do justice. it was a great way to end such a wonderful trip
on our road trip, we saw so many beautiful beaches. it was too cold to go for a swim but they were sure beautiful to look at! the beaches around big sur are by far the most breathtaking i have ever seen with their steep cliffs and majestic rocks. carmel by the sea has a cute little beach that allows dogs to run free which is quite a sight to see. i’m so blessed to live in such a beautiful state.
carmel has the cutest cottages! they remind me of the cottages i saw all over the english countryside when i was there a few summers back. every morning, i walked with my mom and my dog to breakfast at the mission ranch and took pictures along the way of the gorgeous homes and quaint cottages. as you can tell by these pictures, my favorite thing to take pictures of is doors and arbors. my dream house would be a little cottage with a colorful door and an ivy covered arch in carmel. a girl can dream
cambria is a darling little town by the beach in central california. we usually stay here for a few nights on our family road trips but this time, we just stopped on our way to and from carmel. our favorite restaurant there is called robins and it has a great vegan menu. we ended up stopping there on the way there and back to grab a bite to eat. i got the coconut tofu curry and thai tofu lettuce wraps, both of which were amazing! we also love hearts ease, a garden shop across from robins. though it wasn’t as manicured as it usually is when we visit in the spring or summer, it was still as cute and quaint as i remember. though we didn’t stay long, cambria will always feel a little like home
coffee and great conversations with friends are one of the things i cherish most about being home. casey and i met at milk+honey, a great local spot, and chatted and laughed for hours. the best part about this coffee shop (besides my other best friend ellie working there) is how beautiful it gets at dusk. this was my new camera’s first run and i’m so glad i got to capture these moments
i can’t believe after such a crazy semester, its finally time to come home. these past few weeks have been a whirlwind of fun and memories. i kept pinching myself and thinking “it doesn’t get better than this”. last night, a few of us were playing games and listening to iron and wine and the lumineers and it was one of those moments you stop and just can’t help but to feel so content and blessed. these people have become like my family and with every goodbye, my heart breaks a little. thank God quite a few of us are coming back (including my awesome roommate) but its weird to think we won’t be a group again. we’ve all grown so much as people over the semester and it will be awesome to see where we are all at the next time we reunite. that being said, i’m so excited to come home! i’ve always loved home but the more i’m away, the more i appreciate it. coming home so soon before christmas, my favorite holiday, is just the icing on the cake. now i just have to conquer the 12 plus hour flight and i’ll be home free… literally
