i tried milo + olive a few weeks back and it did not disappoint. i’m still dreaming about the delectable food. everything our group had was so delicious and the atmosphere is very intimate. its tiny inside and we had to wait for longer than expected but was well worth it. yet another restaurant in LA added to my ‘must go back’ list
my friends and i have a tradition that every sunday before we go to church, we grab coffee up in LA, usually at intelligentsia in silverlake. i love the coffees here (especially the soy lattes), the latte art and their great selection of teas but what i love most is the beautiful building and ambiance. these mornings are some of my favorites and something i’m going to miss the most when i leave for new zealand.
if you know me at all, you probably know i love being out in nature. i love hiking and camping and anything i can do in the great outdoors. exploring in the fresh mountain air is so invigorating and freeing. though i tend to gravitate towards cities, i also love to recharge in nature. one of the best things about living in california is the close proximity from the cities and suburbs to nature. within a relatively short driving distance, you can be out in what seems like the middle of nowhere, whether it be the mountains, desert or beach. but after a nature recharge, its always nice to go back home.
a few weeks back, i went up to the mountains to be a junior counselor at a camp for abused children. i have been working at this camp for a few years and it’s always one of the highlights of my summer. the days are packed with everything from hikes to swimming to archery and though it’s hard work, it’s also a really great time. i love bonding with my fellow junior councilors and exploring the beautiful area where the camp is located. i’m already looking forward to going back next summer.
